Tell us a little bit about yourself. Introduce where you came from and what you were doing before pharmacy.

I’m George Hanna, I grew up in Mississauga with a younger sister, and now I live in Campbellville Ontario. I went to McMaster for undergrad before coming here, studying Integrated Science.

What do you like to do outside of studying?

I really enjoy hands-on work such as tinkering with motorcycles and cars, and I compete in Olympic weightlifting. When I’m bored I like to work on my bike or my car, taking them apart and put them together and work on new skills. Last summer I was a contractor, and I would have done that if it weren’t for EPE, but back then I learned a lot of skills. I really developed a knack for taking control and responsibility for myself.

What type of music do you like?

Depends on the situation. Driving, it’s classic rock, but studying its salsa or Spanish music. When chilling with my friends it’ll be pop and hip-hop.

Let’s say you suddenly gained unlimited financial resources. What would be the first thing you’d do?

I would explore my hobbies to the fullest extent. I’d buy a 12-car garage with a lot of projects to work on. I really want to invest time in my hobbies and learning new skills. Paying off my student loans is up there as well!

What’s something you want to improve about yourself? Conversely, what about yourself are you the proudest of?

I’m most proud of my independence. I don’t need to rely on other people for a lot of things. I’ve had a job since I was in grade 9. I’ve been supporting myself since then, learning the importance of self-management and responsibility.

I’d like to improve on my long-term planning. There have been a lot of sharp turns in my life and I think having a bit more foresight would be a much smoother way to do things.

Do you have a quote that inspires you, that you can relate to or in general just really resonate with? What does it mean to you?

“Man cannot remake himself without suffering for he is both the marble and the sculptor”

  • Alexis Carrel

Life is about self-improvement, that’s the meaning. Taking the hand you were dealt with and making the best version of yourself is the key to fulfillment, and happiness. You aren’t worrying about extra forces putting you down or bringing yourself up.

Would you rather speak every language fluently or play every instrument masterfully?

Speak every language fluently. Communication through words is indispensable.

CONTROVERSIAL QUESTION: Do you think pineapple belongs on pizza?

Absolutely. I think the combination of pineapple of ham works really well. Other fruits might not work, but pineapple just does. The pineapple provides the right amount of sweetness on the pizza.
