July 2018

Our first summer 2T1 feature stars our very own Brandon Mikhael! Learn more about this man in his interview with Kyle, our Monograph Representative!

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I’m pretty obsessed with pandas and my room is filled with panda stuffed animals. My goal is to one day pet a Panda, and then I can die a happy man.

What do you like doing outside of studying?

I like to eat. I’ll eat whatever you throw in front of me, so I’m really into trying new restaurants. Luckily for me, Toronto has a wide variety. I was also addicted to Fortnite for a while, what a game. The number of hours I put into that game is scary. I quit about a month ago so I don’t really play anymore but shoutout to the Pharm Fortnite Squad who are reppin the 2T1’s with those dubs. I also watched “The Wolf of Wall Street” at the beginning of the year which inspired me to learn about stocks/investing in my free time as well. I think having a bit of knowledge when it comes to stocks/investing could really benefit you in the future. There are even ways that we can use our pharmaceutical knowledge to our advantage when it comes to stocks in the pharmaceutical industry.

What kind of music do you like?

I’m really into rap, hip hop and R&B. Listening to stories they tell in their music, sometimes you can relate. I know this is basic, but I’m really into Drake and J Cole. Music brings up common struggles (whether it be physical or mental) and makes us realize that we’re not alone. I also recommend listening to Nas’ new album, especially the song “Everything”.

What are the biggest differences between Windsor and Toronto you’ve noticed? Do you have a preference overall?

I’ve lived in Windsor my whole life so I feel like I’m kinda biased. There’s never any traffic, it’s not too crowded, and people are really friendly. We have a lot of great Middle Eastern restaurants, and all the hummus you can imagine. Windsor is also right across the border from Detroit, which has some great Jazz/Blues bars and some nice shisha spots.

My first month in Toronto, I was pretty homesick, but then I started realizing the perks of being a Torontonian. There’s so much more to do in TO! The city is so alive compared to Windsor. I like how you can just walk down pretty much any street and find something to do. I also discovered something called “Shawarma on the rocks” when I moved to TO and I’ve been addicted ever since.

What are the biggest lessons you’d say you’ve learned your first year at pharmacy? Anything you would’ve liked to change?

In a lot of our classes they’ve emphasized how easy it is to make mistakes while on the job and that we should always be looking out for possible errors. I think that’s the most important lesson I’ve learned since I’ve actually carried it into my EPE1 rotation. I’m very careful with whatever I’m doing in the Pharmacy as sometimes the smallest mistakes can have serious repercussions. In terms of things I’d like to change, I’d say just remove Mol Pharm from the curriculum and we’re all set.

Coke or Pepsi? Why?

Coke because **** Pepsi.

Who would win, an army of all the kindergarteners in the world, or a T-rex?

As much as I hate imagining little kids being torn to shreds by a T-rex, I would have to say T-rex.
